(Oslo, Norway) Telenor Satellite today announced the launch of HighTV 3D, a 24/7 channel for the Nordic region, on Telenor Satellite’s THOR 6 satellite, located at 1 degree West, one of Europe’s fastest-growing orbital hotspots.
HighTV 3D will initially reach audiences in Norway only and will distributed to viewers via Canal Digital’s DTH satellite-TV service as part of the standard family package*.
HighTV 3D, one of the first 3D TV entertainment channels to broadcast worldwide, is the first such channel to be launched in the Nordic region. Its launch follows successful trials and one-off broadcasts (both free-to-air and subscriber-based) of live sports events.
Cato Halsaa, Vice President and CEO, Telenor Satellite, commented: “3D has the unique ability to engage and personally connect the viewer to content, and continuous technology enhancements are making it easier for viewers to experience 3D content. Without a doubt, 3DTV is already starting to make an impact in the broadcast market and the arrival of 3DTV provides an additional dimension to broadcast’s ever-changing landscape. I am delighted to welcome the HighTV 3D channel to the 1 degree West platform, carried on Telenor Satellite’s THOR satellite fleet.”
HighTV 3D is available from today, October 27, as part of the channel bouquet offered by Canal Digital, the leading DTH operator in the Nordic region.
